Method of development/origin | Crossing between two genetic line G 162 and BL 1316 in 1991. Next year 1992 F1 top cross with NL 29 as Male parent , thereafter cross with F2 and F4 generation by modified bulk method. This is introduced in Bangladesh 1998 from Nepal for assessment and select as BAW 1008. |

Main characteristics | It is a semi-dwarf high yielding potential variety. Plant height 95-100 cm.Number of tiller 4-5, leaf broad and deep green, panicle initiation time 64-60 days, spike long, grain/panicle 45-55, grain white, glossy and large size, crop duration 102-110 days. |

Resistance/tolerance | Tolerant to leaf rust and leaf spot disease(blight). The variety is tolerant to terminal heat stress. Due to temperature tolerant late planting yieldis possible. |
