I am delighted to learn that the Department of Crop Botany, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University has established a Digital Herbarium with funding from the Academic Innovation Fund (AIF) of the Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGCB). Images and databases of the crop plants comprising field, horticultural, forest, and medicinal plants have been digitized and developed into virtual herbariums using software. The virtual herbarium is linked with the websites of BSMRAU and other relevant organizations. I believe that students, academicians, and researchers will benefit from this website, www.dhcrop.bsmrau.net.
I wish for progressive development of the digital herbarium of crop plants.
