Main Features of the Variety

Developed byBangladesh Agriculture Research Institute (BARI), Gazipur, Bangladesh.
Method of development/originThis variety was selected and developed from a local germplam “Shibnagar” from Comilla district of Bangladesh
Year of release 1989
Main characteristics High yielding early maturing variety , plants are relatively strong and stout,   plant medium height (120cm), leaf green, stem hard, leaves are broad, panicles are long(18cm), thick, compact and hairy, creamy colored seed, 1000 grain weight 2.3-2.5 g. Yield comparatively 30-35% more than local variety.
Planting season and time Rabi: November 15 to December 15 in southern parts. It can also be grown in March 15 to April 15 as intercrop(Kharif).
Harvesting timeRipening  in rabi season 105-115 days and 85-95 days in karif season
YieldYield in rabi season 2-2.5 t/ha and in kharif  season yield is lower than rabi season
Resistance/toleranceTolerant to stem rot disease..
